See You Later...

Waiting at the terminal.

It is always hard to say good-bye, so Erin and I have decided to say "See you later," to Christian. This past week we left him at the PAX Terminal as he embarked on a deployment. He was ready to go, even though we know he will miss us as much as we'll miss him.

One last picture with Daddy.

It is always weird around the house when Christian leaves, so Erin and I have decided to fill the void with some fun trips this summer. We will spend some time at the beach, a quick trip to Italy and she has requested to go to Paris again for her birthday. Who am I to say "no" to Paris??

Waiting for the plane.

We Have Cast!

A picture of the original pseudo-cast.

Spending some quality time at home before he heads out:-(

Some Erin "personality!"

We are excited to report that Erin got her cast on Thursday, June 3! This was our third visit back to the orthopedic clinic and the doctor deemed the bones worthy of a cast. The original plan was to have a long-arm cast and a few weeks later transition into a short-arm cast, but it seems she won't need two after all. Once the cast was on, she immediately wanted to go to B&A so that her friends and counselors could sign.

It didn't take long for the cast to be covered in signatures!

Erin is excited that her last day of school, as a first-grader, is June 11. Then, we have some summer fun planned! We are very excited about seeing some friends and family when we venture to the beach and travel to some castles in Europe this summer.

Cast, oh cast...where art thou?

It seems that the "put on" of Erin's cast is unknown! Last Friday (5/21) we made a trip to see the orthopedist only to be told that the two bones needed to heal a bit more and to return one week later. Well....one week later (today, 5/28) we showed up at the doctor's office again, only to be told that we would need to wait another week!

The good news is that the breaks are healing nicely, but the arm is still too unstable to take it out of the pseudo-cast it is currently in. So, we wait. Erin doesn't seem to phased by this, except that she really wants her friends to sign and draw funny pics! She has definitely become the center of attention, especially since the incident happened on the playground of the After School Program here on base.

Not Such a Monkey on the Monkeybars!

While at work my cell phone never rings....until yesterday! When I answer the phone, I hear "Hi Mrs. Webb, this is Erica from the School Age Program. It looks like Erin has broken her arm and we are on the phone with the 112 emergency line. Please come right away." As if that wasn't alarming enough, when I pull up to the building, I am greeted by two fire trucks, an ambulance and four Security Forces cars. PANICK set in!

After an exciting ride to the hospital in an ambulance we found out she broke her arm in two places. The orthopedic surgeon came into the E.R. for a visit and when he said an IV would need to be started, Erin lost it again. So...an IV was started and she was wheeled back to have the bones set and have a temporary cast put on. This Friday we go to see the orthopedist and if the x-rays turn out OK, she will get a permanent cast.

Videos of Tumble Around the World!

Nothin' like seeing my favorite tumbler in action!

Tumble Around the World

Erin has been enrolled in gymnastics once a week for the 09/10 school year and has had a blast! By the time she has tumbled around the room for an hour each Wednesday, she comes homes, bathes, snacks and falls into bed with sleep VERY close behind. Last Saturday, Ramstein Youth Programs held its annual Tumble Around the World. We were very impressed with Erin's tumbling skills. Of course, we are just a little biased to be parents to the BEST 6-year old gymnast out there!

After the tumbling event, Erin enjoyed the day with friends Kejrsten and Ashley and went on her first Volksmarch! She came home with some fun prizes, included two tadpoles. Believe me, I was excited (not!) We rounded out the weekend with Mother's Day, which was nice a relaxing after going to church and out to lunch.

Tea with Alice in Wonderland

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of taking my favorite little girl to a mother/daughter tea! The best part was listening to Erin's excitement about going to an "official tea" and watching her get dressed in a new "tea" dress just for the special day!

We got to meet Alice in Wonderland and see her interact with some special characters like the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts and the OTHER Queen of Hearts. Although, I think Erin's favorite part was being able to get out on the dance floor with some friends!

Let the Games Begin!

Yesterday was a very exciting day! Erin participated in her first Awana Games with our church - Faith Baptist. Erin is normally reserved when around a group of other children, especially when it comes to sports; although, I think yesterday was a turning point for her....YIPPEE!

She was very excited about getting to the Soutside Gym on Ramstein AB to see her friends and get a little competition going with the other Awana groups! While we told her it wasn't about who won, but about having fun, she was set on getting a medal around her neck by the end of the morning.

Her team, comprised of 10 children, did an awesome job! She participated in every event and had a great time in the process. We hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed watching her!
